During the Microsoft conference for E3 2019 we could see a video with the first details of Project Scarlett, although I have left many questions still on the air. One of these issues was the support for physical games, something that did not seem clear after Xbox One S All-Digital Edition came to market a few months ago.
Luckily, Phil Spencer (president of the Xbox division) has confirmed in an interview with Games Industry that Project Scarlett will have an optical reader that will give us the option to continue buying games in physical format. However, the executive admits that the digital format is becoming the favorite of the users little by little.
” We know, because we see it, that more and more players are buying in digital format ” explains Spencer. ” We believe that in some circumstances […] it is easier. But we know that people still have records. & Quot; For this reason, experimental hardware such as Xbox One S All-Digital Edition are configured as an alternative rather than a standard model. ” We are very clear with the name because I do not want to confuse anyone, if you are someone who has their own record library or is the way you prefer to purchase content, then you should buy the Xbox One S and not the Xbox One S All-Digital ”
” I want to be very descriptive because I do not want to confuse anyone with the options. I want to give them options, and right now the physical format is the choice that millions of people love. & Quot;
