After the premiere of the trailer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Nintendo Switch, there has been a lot of talk about the understandable graphics that the game has suffered in this adaptation, but a detail of the footage has gone something more unnoticed: censorship. And it is that one of the first scenes of the game, that appears in this advance, has been modified significantly.
At the beginning of the trailer Geralt of Rivia, passes next to the call ” Hanged Man’s Tree “, a tree from which hang the bodies executed of a handful of men. But this detail is omitted in the trailer presented on the occasion of E3 2019, since only ropes hang from the branches of the tree. Moreover, the assembly of the UK trailer adds some plans that replace others in which are shown in detail the bodies hanging from the tree.
The change is because the footage must adapt to the regulations of the European diffusion that governs this type of promotional formats, and that forces all to avoid potentially offensive images. This does not mean that the final content of the CD Projekt Red game will be altered, so Geralt will be able to continue to dismember the Novigrad thugs with normality. In fact, the Polish studio claims that the game “looks amazing” ” on the Nintendo laptop. Be sure to check out some of the visual clippings from The Witcher 3 on Switch.
