War of the Spark, the new collection of Magic: The Gathering and its namesake F2P, Magic Arena, is just days away from being released in physical and digital stores. The expansion, which will also come to Japan, has a very special promotion there, in which one of the main artists of the Final Fantasy franchise, Yoshitaka Amano, has lent his talent to illustrate one of the game’s most famous Planeswalker: Liliana.
The result is quite spectacular, presenting a unique design for Liliana that will undoubtedly become one of the most precious cards in the collection. The only way to get hold of it will be through envelopes in Japan, in a very limited circulation that will not be accessible in the West until the release of Core Set 2020. if the Liliana Amano will be playable in Magic the Gathering: Arena.
As the SoraNews portal explains, Amano has not been the only guest artist for the Spark War in Japan: among others, there are illustrators like Daisuke Izuka, known for his work in the Fire Emblem saga of Nintendo. Magic Arena is still in beta on PC, but the game has managed to capture the essence of Magic, transporting the legendary JCC into the territory of the game like no other title inspired by the creation of Richard Garfield had done so far.
