The developer Auroch Digital warns from the first moment: Dark Future: Blood Red States is not a driving game, despite what it seems. Actually it is a curious mixture of racing, strategy and some elements of the Carmaggedon series, which since its near premiere on Steam is enjoying some notoriety among fans.
This post-apocalyptic aesthetic game invites us to an alternative temporary current that will remind you of Mad Max. In this scenario, the player can control different cars covered with scrap and weapons from an outside view. The objective is to survive in a series of lethal races mixed with strategic combats, where we must finish against our assailants. These confrontations are very intense, so the player can help himself with the use of slow motion, similar to V.A.T.S. of Fallout, and a second support vehicle, to try to achieve a winning strategy.
Among the options available to the player, you can clear the path using the front guns of the car, or set traps to our persecutors, sowing the floor of metallic studs on our way to damage their tires. The equipment options are many, and not all are offensive in nature. We can also improve the shielding of our car or its top speed, obtaining money by passing various tests, and with which we can buy new equipment or fuel that allows us to continue playing.
Dark Future came to Steam last May 16, and if you want another discovery that puts you behind the wheel of a vehicle in an original way, do not miss the strange Soviet trip of Jalopy, or Axiom Soccer, a free and fast-paced Rocket League.
