Yesterday the third-generation Ryzen processors arrived on the market, of which the Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X models have already made the first reviews. With this new generation we can find up to 12 cores and 24 threads of processing for 548.90 euros, with some yields that place AMD in an excellent position in the market. Now, this arrival not only puts the competition in a hurry, but also other processes within the red offer. We talk about the Threadripper, of course.
AMD’s HEDT processors have become less interesting compared to the advantages offered by the Zen 2 family, both in multichip connectivity and single-wire performance. With this in mind, it seems that the company has decided to collect cable with the second generation. Threadripper and has lowered the prices. We have verified this event on the Scan UK page, in which the 24-core Threadripper 2970WX has gone from 1099 pounds to 899. The 2850X has also dropped from 809 pounds to 719 and 2920X from 569 to 369. It is to see this price adjustment throughout the European market, but curiously at the time we wrote this there is a Ryzen Threadripper 2950X on Amazon for 397.10 euros. Perhaps it is coincidence, but it is a very opportune coincidence.
Thanks to the better design of the Zen 2 kernels and the improved multipass architecture, most of Threadripper’s performance problems have been solved, so this series of processors is in a very strange position. It continues to offer a very high CPU performance for anyone who needs cores and raw threads, but we must remember that AMD plans to release a third generation Threadripper with up to 64 cores …
