After seeing the analyzes of the Radeon RX 5700 that the media published from July 7, there is a section of reference graphics of AMD that was very clear: the blower type design does not suit the Navi. Apart from being very noisy compared to open designs, having only one fan makes them reach temperatures that can exceed 90 degrees in the case of the XT, and for a GPU that only consumes 220 W, that’s unacceptable. All this can be solved with the modified cards, and apparently they will begin to arrive from mid-August.
Scott, Herkelman, head of Radeon, has confirmed it in a Reddit thread. Apparently his team is working to distribute these models as soon as possible to the media, so that consumers have all the possible data before launch. I have also recognized that the main stumbling block of the reference models is, effectively, the cooling system, and that I have “liked the idea” of offering double or triple fan systems for reference models.
On the other hand, we read in TechPowerUp that the Hardwareluxx portal has been made with slides of MSI in which details are specified on its RX 5700 graphics line. They belong to the MECH series, a refreshment of the current Armor series, and will feature a new color scheme. As you can see in the slide below, there will be four models of the RX 5700 XT and three of the RX 5700.
