Old school gamers or fans of the Halo series may be familiar with the Marathon trilogy, which the legendary studio Bungie released back in the mid-90s. This was the answer popular than Doom and Wolfenstein. But if the latter concentrated only on firefights, then in Marathon there was also a plot and rich lore. The success led to the fact that through time a trilogy appeared: Marathon 2 and Marathon: Infinity were released.
In 2011, an independent developer released one of the games on the App Store using open source software. The remaining two parts also appeared over time on iOS and were distributed free of charge.
But after a couple of years, the games stopped receiving updates. The situation changed only a couple of months ago, when the whole trilogy was suddenly updated to support iOS 12, got updated graphics, an interface, and everything that is supposed to have classics in our time.
If you remember this trilogy, now is the time to return to it. And if not – you can get acquainted with the fact that it was popular more than 20 years ago.
