There have been many video games about the Star Trek brand throughout history. From the classic Star Trek 25th Anniversary, to jewel of the graphic adventures of Interplay, to more discreet ones such as Star Trek: Bridge Crew for virtual reality. Now, the well-known CBS network intends to revitalize intellectual property in video games.
This is a general strategy that will delight the trekkies, and that comes to take advantage of the pull of the movie trilogy of Star Trek and the television series Star Trek: Discovery. In that framework, brand owners seek to “expand and strengthen the Star Trek fan community with a lot of new content.”
Mention, of course, videogames, but also consumer products, podcasts, to redesigned web page and events of all kinds. Likewise, of course, they will also continue to work on television, the original format of the universe, with two new series of real action and two animation projects, in addition to “multiple short films”.
We will have to see what is the consolidation of this long-term CBS plan, but happy to know that to work as rich and prolific as that of Gene Roddenberry is still in the minds of executives to star in new video games.
