It might seem that the exercise of launching a game inspired by classic mechanics is something crude and simple, but nothing is further from reality: the followers of retro games are very demanding, and they are not willing to pass a single mistake with their Mystified productions. Despite the challenge, we have a good run of games that try to remember the long-awaited retro air that has the most special discs and cartridges that we keep on our shelves.
Today at GamesFreeBall we bring you three titles that they have successfully recalled the past of the industry and three other games much awaited by the most classic users who claim to have the same success. Will they make it?
We talked about Ritual of the Night, but we could also put Curse of the Moon in the bag. The first is a true Igavania, with all the elements that characterized the Castlevania video games signed by Koji Igarashi on PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Game Boy Advance and DS with a protagonist that mixes the best of Aria of Sorrow, Symphony of the Night and Order of Ecclesia; the second is the reinterpretation of Castlevania 3 by Igarashi himself and his team, signing an excellent 2D platform with multiple selectable protagonists and an army of spectacular final bosses. Two very remarkable games that make up a new saga that is already asking for a double encore.
We have analyzed it recently in GamesFreeBola. It is a video game developed by the Chilean studio ACE Team, which has decided to honor one of the most important games of Quintet, ActRaiser. It puts us in the skin of the god Helios, who must put an end to other evil deities who have decided to terrorize humanity with their divine powers. A production that mixes platforms with tower defense with ease, although there is no problem in their sound or visual finish. However, if you are one of those who have been waiting for a continuation of ActRaiser for the last 25 years, do not hesitate to take a look: you will enjoy it.
A real challenge for lovers of Contra. Developed by JoyMasher, it offers an authentic 2D war against an army of machines willing to end you and the entire human race. Are not you ready for these jogs now? Do not worry! The game offers a way to enjoy without too many headaches, but do not hesitate to throw yourself into the real challenge once you finish it: three lives and limited continuations. Are you ready? Not satisfied with the possibility of enjoying a style of play more focused on the original shoot and run, Blazing Chrome dares the melee with its two secret characters, offering a new and interesting challenge to the already complicated software.
How do you explain the success of Windjammers? How to order a sequel to such an absolutely minor game, launched on a platform practically inaccessible as Neo Geo and with such a devilish difficulty in arcades? Remember to the machine every time you lost a game (and with it, 25 pesetas) with the German? It does not matter: we are all glad to know Windjammers 2 and the return of Jordi Costa, with new moves, special attacks and strategies for what is undoubtedly one of the most summery games in the history of the industry. Reds of summer, frisbees and a lot of beach pimps: what could fail in the rebirth of the series? We will know in a few months.
Everything that has been seen in Streets of Rage 4 seems to live up to the expectations created. It has respected the dimensions of the original characters, the tempo of the blows and you have updated the design in a respectful way for lovers of the Sega game. We do not know if Yuzo Koshiro will be at the controls of the music, but that would be news that would please the most staunch supporters of the franchise. Naturally, it has been conceived with the local cooperative in mind, so you can go looking for a companion of cakes for what is coming in the coming months. Surely it is reserving the presentation of a character more, any bet on it? Shiva? Adam? The good Skate?
The return of Battletoads in E3 2018 was received with open arms … but it was without penalty for the E3 2019. Despite its great iteration in recreational halls, it is not understands how to multidisciplinary game like Battletoads (inheritance of the times of Ultimate and its legendary developments for microcomputers) has ended up pulling the easy way of beat’em up. Being a game so absolutely focused on nostalgia, you can not understand the bet of its designs by the Cartoon Network school and other current American animations … is it what its users are looking for? It will suffice to know more about the game in the future and convince the old dogs of the industry to surprise the skeptical users.
