Just a few days ago we offered you some calculations of how much PlayStation consoles have sold, based on estimates. Now, however, we have Sony’s official data, which allows us to get a lot more accurate idea based on official numbers from the manufacturer.
The first PlayStation sold 102.5 million video game consoles, and 962 million video games. Great figures to start the Sony’s incursions in the field of consoles and software titles.
PS2, meanwhile, sold 155 million video game consoles, and a whopping 1,537 million video game. It is the most successful machine of all those launched by the Japanese manufacturer and that has also hard-to-match numbers.
The manufacturer has not announced PS numbers VitaPSP is, as expected, the least successful hardware that Sony has ever sold for all its history. It sold 76.4 million consoles, on the one hand, and 331 million video games, on the other. It is the representative of portable machines since the manufacturer has not made the PS Vita sales numbers available to the media, although we know that they are around just over 16 million units.
PS3, as for after-dinner, it is the one that fewer units sold in its life cycle. 87.4 million consoles, but have a respectable 999.4 million video games sold until March 31, 2017.
At the moment, and as for PS4, only hardware data is offered. They are the 96.8 million PS4 consoles that we told you in detail a few days ago.
