At the end of 2016 we echoed in the pages of the magazine the purchase of an Indian studio by Starbreeze. The acquisition of Dhruva Interactive was valued at 8.5 million dollars, demonstrating the strength that, at that time, had the parents of Payday 2. More than two years later the situation is totally opposite and, according to new information, this development team will shortly become part of Rockstar, responsible for the GTA saga.
According to the data provided by the authors of Red Dead Redemption 2, the transaction will be effective in some moment to be determined of the current semester and gives Rockstar to 91.82% stake in Dhruva in exchange for 7.9 million dollars. This studio dedicated to the creation of artistic resources – with experience in releases such as Halo 5, Forza Horizon 3 or Quantum Break – will operate alongside Rockstar India and will continue to work on their current projects.
This Starbreeze movement in the line of search of funds that already warned his manager, Mikael Nermark, a few days ago. While it has not yet ruled on this operation, it is expected that this is coming out, as well as the transfer of several of its licenses, allow the creators of Payday 2 to stabilize after the crisis that has led to poor performance in sales of Overkill’s The Walking Dead.
