The official media of the Pokémon saga have shared today a new trailer and information about Pokémon Sword / Pokémon Shield, the new deliveries for Nintendo Switch. The new details include key characters from the gymnasiums and Galar’s Pokémon League, differences between versions, unpublished Pokémon and the Gigamax forms of some of them.
Respectively, the video presents Judith and Alistair, leaders of gym specialized in Pokémon of fight and ghost type respectively. The first has an impassive character and never loses temper, while the second is very shy and hides his face with a mask. They join other fitness leaders we already knew, such as Percy and Cathy, to test the aspiring Galar Champion. That title belongs to Lionel, a character we had previously seen and who has an impressive winning streak that can only be equated with his popularity.
The Pokémon League is set up as an annual event beloved by the inhabitants of Galar, and is broadcast live on the region’s televisions. The best coaches also win sponsors, and if we are up to the task, we will be able to customize to shirt with our favorite numbers and logos. Interestingly, in these deliveries we will have the opportunity to meet the businessmen behind the League: President Rose and his secretary, Olivia.
On the other hand, we have a few new Pokémon: Alcremie, fairy-like; Yamper, electric type; Rolycoly, rock type; and Duraludon, of steel and dragon types. If you saw the Nintendo Treehouse during E3 2019, you probably remember Yamper. Next to him was Impidimp, a Pokémon of which strangely no more details have been given today. The good news is that, in addition to the new Pokémon, a new type of alternative form called Gigamax has also been announced.
Gigamax can only be used in some very specific species and can only be used by some individualsThe Gigamax phenomenon is a special version of the Dinamax mechanics introduced in these games. How does it work? Essentially the same as Dinamax, only Gigamax can only be used in some very specific species and also only some individuals can use it. We do not know what requirements must be met to be able to gigamaxize, though. Once in Gigamax form, the Pokémon change their appearance, become even larger and can use unique movements called (logically) Gigamax movements that belong to each species individually. Drednaw, Alcremie and Corviknight have Gigamax forms, although to unlock this power we will have to find them only in Dinamax raids.
Interestingly, this confirms to past filtration that (after having advanced many other surprises already announced) also talks about Gigamax forms of Pokémon like Lapras or Pikachu. If he is right, the first one would have a musical theme, and the second one would be a very nostalgic wink that recovers the squat aspect of the conceptual images of the first games.
Finally, Pokémon have also been presented exclusive of each version. The already veteran Deino and Jangmo-o will be exclusive to Pokémon Sword, while Pokémon Shield will have Larvitar and Goomy. Those who get the double pack of Sword and Shield will get redeemable codes that unlock Dinamax Crystals in each game. These allow you to participate immediately in Dinamax raids led by Larvitar (in Pokémon Sword) and Jangmo-o (in Pokémon Shield).
