With the release of the movie Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution in Japan, Pokémon GO is updated to introduce themed raid featuring Mewtwo Battleship. This is important for two reasons: one, the return of the powerful Mewtwo to the game; and two, that I did not have the armor of the movie before! If you want to get hold of it, in this guide we provide you with all the information so that you are prepared on time and with a good team up your sleeve.
The first thing you should know is that the event will be available between 10 and on July 31. On July 10, 17 and 24 there will be a special raid level increase from 6:00 pm to 7: 00 pm, local time. Note also that we are talking about level 5 raids, and that Mewtwo is a psychic type Pokémon with or without armor. This means that phantom, sinister or bug-type movements will be crucial to finish it off in time.
At level 20, we can find Mewtwo Battleship with between 2,294 and 2,387 PCs if there is no remarkable weather condition. Under the effects of the wind, it will have between 2,868 and 2,984 PCs. Among its charged movements we can find Psychic, Lightning, Ice Beam, Accurate Wave and Flamethrower. The main threat there is Onda Certera, which can disable Pokémon as useful as Tyranitar or Weavile. Statistically it is not very different from the normal Mewtwo, so its main counters are also very similar.

No need to spend much time analyzing our options to conclude that Mewtwo Armored has a clear nemesis: Giratina in its Origin form, with Claw Umbria and Shadow Ball. Other great options are Gengar, the basic Mewtwo itself (with Shadow Ball), Tyranar or Weavile, although we go down the list we see that these Pokémon have more and more weaknesses against this fierce opponent. From Reddit, the gaming community considers that Pinsir or even Yanmega can be viable on your team.
The ideal list of Pokémon GO Hub veterans looks like this. As a reminder, we indicate that Gengar or Weavile are much faster than Giratina, although logically they are also more fragile. It seems that a group of 6 or 8 people with Tyranite level 30 is the norm and the best balance between damage and durability. Logically, you’ll want to take advantage of the extra PC with a lot of wind whenever possible, even if that forces you to readjust the equipment before entering the mission.
