The E3 2019 closes its doors today after having hosted at least 239 video games between its halls and corridors. Of all of them, and after a careful work of classification by the specialized Game Industry portal, only one in four titles are not violent.
To be more accurate, only 21% of the titles exhibited in the fair, 42 proposals in total, can affirm that they do not have a leading feature in violence. Of these, only 17 of these titles are responsible for the large companies in the sector, including Microsoft with up to eight titles of the programmed ID @ Xbox. And that without counting adventures such as LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Luigi’s Mansion 3 or proposals with very minimalist representation of a conflict such as a Hearthstone-style card game for examples of titles not considered violent.
Game Industry clarifies that the objective of this report, elaborated on the presented events during the different events or that has arrived via a press release to the portal, is not to announce the excess of violence in video games, but to make visible the amount of bets of the industry based on fight and kill mechanics.
By conference, EA Play had a 33% non-violent catalog followed by Ubisoft (31%), Microsoft (24%), Nintendo (10%), Bethesda (8%) and Square Enix ( 5%).
