We had the opportunity to talk with Rod Fergusson, head of The Coalition, during E3 2019, and as part of this talk, the developer ruled out that Gears 5 would be considered, at some point, as a launch game for Project Scarlett. Ferguson indicated that the date was always clear and the game was always designed to bring the Xbox One X to its limit.
” Well, we launched in September, so we arrived a little early. & Quot; clarified first Fergusson. ” No, the truth is we already had our date and we were building towards it, so it was not like they said, ‘well, add one more year to your development’. What we are doing is bringing Xbox One X to its limits so they will be able to play Gears 5 in 4K and 60 FPS, it is not one or the other, they are both, we really optimize our engine and I think it will be seen very good on both platforms. ” I have added
We asked the question about what happened with Halo Infinite that, during the Microsoft presentation, was announced as the launch title for the next Xbox console.
Gears 5 received a date of September 10 for its release and, although there was no playability of the gameplay, the Escape mode was available on the exhibition floor and Microsoft drew a route map for it. The gradual unveiling of the game, which, according to Ferguson, is designed to challenge the standard model of gaming marketing.
