Marty Stratton, executive producer of id Software, has confirmed that DOOM Eternal and its id Tech 7 engine will be compatible with raytracing. Nvidia has not yet confirmed the collaboration with the studio officially, so the news comes unilaterally from the developers of the game. Stratton believes that they will implement it “better than anyone”, but on the other hand, the priority of development is to reach all the platforms with the best possible performance, be it on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch or Stadia. With this, although they seek to bring the RTX to the game in the best way, it is not something that will “expand the audience of the game”. All this has been reported by the people of Software in an interview with Giant Bomb:
Bethesda has already announced its collaboration with Nvidia to bring the RTX and the Adaptive Shading from Nvidia to Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which presents the Tech id 6 engine, so a collaboration with id Software would be a simple step. It remains to be seen how the technology will be implemented, but Stratton has already advanced that technologies linked to RTX offer “great benefits” and that it makes everything look “impressive”. Anyway, we are satisfied that the game maintains the great optimization that the first had, a title that offered an excellent visual section and an exceptional performance even in the most modest teams. DOOM Eternal will arrive on November 22!
