The actor David Eddings has lent his voice to the iconic character Claptrap in Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! and Tales from the Borderlands, so one assumes that it will also appear in the Spanish version of Borderlands 3. It will not be the case: apparently, he has had financial disputes with Gearbox that ended him off the template.
Responding to questions from one of his Twitter followers, Eddings explains that ” for the first time, I insisted that they paid me for my work and suddenly, they could not afford my services. I’m not going to explain how to do their job, but maybe they should deposit the $ 2 million 2K in the Gearbox bank account, implying that maybe Randy Pitchford (company president) has made a bad or doubtful management of the budget to develop the game.
Thus, Claptrap becomes the second important character who loses his original actor. The other is Rhys, from the spin-off of Telltale, played by Troy Baker. He also exchanged several of Gearbox’s astonished for having stayed behind in the development of Borderlands 3.
No. For the first time, I insisted on getting paid for my performance and all of a sudden they couldn't afford me. Now I'm not telling them how to run their business but maybe next time they should put the $12M payment from 2K in the Gearbox bank account instead. Just sayin'…
