About 354 million PC players. More people than inhabitants have the United States. This is the incredible number of fans that the firm Niko Partners estimates will soon enjoy online video games through the PC in the eastern country. A surprising fact that does nothing but show the huge growth experienced by the video game industry in China.
According to the estimates of this analyst firm, the figure of 354 million PC players will be reached in 2023, with scandalously high market figures, since they estimate 16 billion dollars that same year. Most impressive? These data leave the mobile market, which is even higher in China.
If you compare these figures with those of 2001, the data is even more spectacular, because then the market volume was 100 million dollars. In 2018, and despite the freeze of licenses for new games, imposed by the Government, the PC video game market in China generated about 15 billion dollars, with a total of 312.4 million players, of which 79, 7 million spent money on games.
To contextualize these figures even more, in the United States the number of video game PCs, consoles and mobile phones reached 2018 30.4 billion dollars according to Newzoo. Niko Partners does not forget the importance of Steam, which has experienced great growth in the eastern country, and more than 24% of users of the platform use Chinese as the main language, this being also the most traffic of general downloads.
