How many times have you measured your strengths, or your reflexes, or your strategies versus those of a machine? Many, sure. And almost always have you come out victorious. But, what if, when it came to dealing with your favorite game, would it give back the blows? James Bruto, robotics engineer and creator of YouTube, you have created a robot that fights against humans in real life while playing in virtual reality.
It is a project carried out in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth and that has to the virtual reality and the immersive experiences like protagonist, adding to the VR games the possibility of receiving real physical damage. For them they have programmed to robot that attacks the player in the way that enemies do in the game.
The movements of the robot are synchronized with a virtual reality game and it uses a series of sensors to analyze the position and movements of the player, reacted according to their behavior to react accordingly. At least they have added some boxing gloves to soften the blows.
No doubt a dangerous and striking addition to the list of the most bizarre accessories for virtual reality.
