A product manager and PR director at Sapphire you have gone tongue-in-cheek in an interview with the Chinese media and you have shared some very juicy details about the new Radeon Navi. Apparently the new family of AMD graphics cards will target the high-end market (not high-high, but almost), with two price ranges, one of $ 399 with its “Pro” model and another $ 499 with the “XT” model (much more than what was being shuffled for the RX 3080 XT Navi). The company has in its sights two Nvidia products: the GeForce RTX 2060 and the RTX 2070. In the interview, the Sapphire representative mentioned “more powerful than the RTX 2070” when talking about performance, and we imagine that it referred to the XT.
Sapphire has also confirmed that AMD will not have chips dedicated to raytracing, but that technology will debut “in the architecture that will arrive next year”. On the other hand, the editor has suggested that it would be rare for AMD to adapt Navi to the most powerful segment, given that there is already Radeon VII, which will continue to be AMD’s flagship. Addressing that issue, they have also confirmed that for now we will continue without modified versions of the Radeon VII. Where we will see modified cards will be in Navi and these Pro and XT. Finally, the editor has confirmed the theory that AMD would unveil its new graphics on May 27 at Computex 2019, and that will arrive on July 7.
